CRISPR-Cas9 lets scientists find a specific DNA sequence, cut it out and replace it. Earlier gene therapies were expensive and imprecise; CRISPR targets one problem sequence and is faster and cheaper, opening uses from medicine to agriculture. That power also raises questions about how far it should be used.
