On July 30, 2016, skydiver Luke Aikins became the first person to jump from 25,000 ft (7,620 m) without a parachute or wingsuit. After a two-minute fall reaching about 120 mph (193 km/h), he landed dead centre in a 100-by-100-foot net in Simi Valley, California. Aikins, who has made more than 18,000 jumps, trained for about two years for the stunt.
