Mosquitos in the wild are turning up with plastic inside of them. Finding this, scientists then tested 150 aquatic mosquito larvae. Each was fed a mixture of food and microplastic beads. 15 individuals were tested at random. The team found microplastics in all 15 individuals. On average, a larva contained over 3000 2-micrometre-wide beads. The same continued into adulthood. Once they stopped consuming plastic, most were eventually excreted. https://www.newscientist.com/article/2180055-mosquitoes-are-eating-plastic-and-spreading-it-to-new-food-chains/
