Say goodbye to fillings

Scientists at King's College London developed a treatment that lets teeth repair decay without drilling or injections. Called Electrically Accelerated and Enhanced Remineralisation (EAER), it speeds up the natural movement of calcium and phosphate minerals into damaged enamel. The damaged area is prepared first, then a tiny electric current pushes minerals into it. The device could also whiten teeth. A spinout company, Reminova, was set up to develop it, with availability expected within three years.
