The Ocean Cover 70% of the Earth's Surface

Oceans cover about 70% of Earth's surface. xkcd's "Lakes and Oceans" draws their depth to scale, from lakes and the continental shelf down to the deepest point in the Mariana Trench, almost 11 km below the surface.
